Scrombler Privacy Policy

Last updated April 5, 2026. Scrombler ("the App") is a custom keyboard and encryption tool developed by myHeuro. Your privacy is fundamental to the design. The App operates entirely on your device and collects no personal data.

Overview

Scrombler is designed so encrypted keyboard messaging works entirely on-device. There are no accounts, no servers, and no external data storage involved in normal use.

Data Collection

Scrombler does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers.

  • No keystrokes are recorded, logged, or transmitted.
  • No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting data is collected.
  • No advertising identifiers or tracking technologies are used.
  • No personal information is shared with third parties.

On-Device Storage

The App stores the following data locally on your device only:

  • Keyboard mappings: the cipher configurations you create, stored in a shared App Group container so the keyboard extension can access them.
  • Group avatars: photos you optionally select from your photo library, stored locally for display purposes only.
  • Purchase status: whether you have unlocked premium features, verified through Apple's StoreKit framework.

None of this data ever leaves your device.

Keyboard Extension and Full Access

The Scrombler keyboard extension requests Full Access solely to enable communication between the keyboard extension and the main app via a shared App Group container. This is required by iOS so the keyboard can read your saved cipher mappings.

Even with Full Access enabled:

  • The keyboard does not access the internet.
  • The keyboard does not record or log any text you type.
  • The keyboard does not transmit any data off your device.

Photos

If you choose to set a group avatar, the App uses Apple's PHPickerViewController to let you select a photo. The selected image is stored locally on your device. The App does not access your full photo library and does not upload photos anywhere.

In-App Purchases

Scrombler offers an optional one-time purchase to unlock additional keyboard slots. All transactions are handled by Apple's App Store. We do not process or store any payment information.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Since no data is collected from any user, there is no risk of children's data being gathered.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
